Josh Jedlicka has taken the new role as the 'ASCE-EWB Liason for the Pittsburgh area' (American Society of Civil Engineers - see attached pdf).
ASCE-Pittsburgh is eager to work with EWB; the interaction with EWB is energizing their membership. EWB-Pittsburgh Professional Chapters won the ASCE-Pittsburgh Award of Merit in 2010.
In addition, Melissa Day and Natalie Celmo gave an outstanding presentation at ASCE Past-President's Luncheon last month and captivated the room with the work the Ecuador team is doing.

Future City Pittsburgh Volunteers Needed
The Pittsburgh Region is beginning its twelfth year in the National Future City Competition. The number of middle schools that have registered in the Pittsburgh Regional Competition has grown each year. African Student Organization (ASO) at University of Pittsburgh is organizing a fundraising dinner "Taste of Africa". The event will be held at William Pitt Union (WPU) - Lower Lounge @ University of Pittsburgh, on November 2nd at 8 pm. They intend to use these funds to build a well in Zimbabwe or Malawi through the organization "PumpAid" and also to donate to P&G's PUR water packets initiative. EWB-Northeast Region (NER) workshop for this year will be held in Pittsburgh during Nov 5-7, 2010 and will be hosted jointly by Pittsburgh Professional, University of Pittsburgh, and Carnegie Mellon chapters. The workshop includes 10 states of Northeast which constitute 61 established chapters (46 student, 15 professional). The workshop is open to non-EWB, non-NER members. It is a great oppurtunity to learn what EWB is doing around the world, network with many engineers, attend career fair, enjoy great food and have fun.
